Funded Cyber Essentials Programme
What is the Funded Cyber Essentials Programme?
The National Cyber Security Council (NCSC) has recently launched a new offering supporting small organisations in high-risk sectors called the Funded Cyber Essentials Programme.
This service has launched to focus on those organisations that are at a greater risk of cyber-attack and are perceived to be an easy target due to the potentially low level of cyber maturity. It’s vital these organisations are protected as they hold and deal with sensitive information.
This programme will offer both Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus to specific sectors at high risk of cyber-attack.
Who can apply?
In order to qualify, the organisation must be either:
- A Micro of Small business (1-49 employees) that offers legal-aid services
- A Micro or Small charity that processes personal data as defined by GDPR
How does it work?
The Funded Cyber Essentials Programme will help UK organisations meet the five technical controls of Cyber Essentials;
- Boundary Firewalls
- Secure Configuration
- Access Controls
- Malware Protection
- Patch Management
Qualifying organisations will receive up to 20 hours of remote support with a Cyber Essentials Assessor. This time will be used to support an organisation to implement the five technical controls of Cyber Essentials, followed by a hands-on technical verification that the controls have been put in place.
